Bio

Nakya Westbrooks is a Tampa native who credits her musicianship to her large, musically gifted family, and her parents Nathan and Felicia Westbrooks. Nakya is fluent in a range of musical styles including funk, gospel, R&B, Hip-hop, and jazz, to name a few. Her musical influences include the late Aaron Spears, Dennis Chambers, Steve Gadd, Shelia E and more.

Nakya's passion for drumming began at the tender age of four when she could be heard beating on pots and pans, tapping her feet, and making beats on a desk. By the age of seven, she was playing drums at various churches and later performed with the likes of Beverly Crawford, Lisa Knowles, Casey J, Darwin Hobbs, and others.

Nakya furthered her knowledge in music studying Music Business at Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. There she was presented with incredible opportunities such as: working with and performing in "The Show" directed by Rob Lewis; studying and being a part of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice founded by artistic director Terry Lyne Carrington; performed with 2021 American Idol Top 3 finalist Grace Kinstler; and currently playing for American singer-songwriter Kehlani, and more.

Nakya will to take her gifts of music to higher heights and greater depths as she pursues her professional Artist career.
