Nakya Westbrooks is a Tampa native who credits her musicianship to her large, musically gifted family, including her parents Nathan and Felicia Westbrooks. Nakya is fluent in a range of musical styles such as funk, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and jazz. Her musical influences include the late Aaron Spears, Dennis Chambers, Steve Gadd, Shelia E, and more.

Nakya's passion for drumming began at the tender age of four when she could be heard beating on pots and pans, tapping her feet, and making beats on a desk. By the age of seven, she was already showcasing her talent by playing drums at various churches and later performing with renowned artists like Beverly Crawford, Lisa Knowles, Casey J, Darwin Hobbs, and others.

To further her knowledge in music, Nakya studied Music Business at Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. There, she was presented with incredible opportunities, including working on and performing in "The Show" directed by Rob Lewis, and participating in the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice founded by artistic director Terry Lyne Carrington. She had the privilege of performing with 2021 American Idol Top 3 finalist Grace Kinstler and is currently providing her drummer services for American singer-songwriter Kehlani, among others.

As she continues to grow as an artist, Nakya aims to elevate her musical career to new heights, offering her talents as a musician for hire and aspiring to teach music lessons to inspire the next generation of musicians.
